A North Lancashire Bridleway Society route.

Storth Waypoint 1
This ride has been submitted by the North Lancashire Bridleway Society, it takes you through Beetham village and past Hazelslack Tower, part of a medieval hall, circa 1375. You will also ride past Heron Corn Mill, one of the few working mills in the area. Approx 16km (10 miles) 2.5 hours. Parking:- Take the B5282 from Milnthorpe towards Arnside. Immediately after you pass the Sandside village, turn left at the Business Park, and drive along the unmade road. Park on this road just after Sandside Quarry. After your ride, no need to turn round, just drive straight on. The route: Continue along the quarry road. Turn left at the T junction, then straight across the crossroads. Storth Waypoint 2
Immediately after passing Hazelslack Tower on your right, turn left up the byway signed Dollywood Lane . At the end turn right down the steep road. Storth Waypoint 3
Turn left at the T junction (signed Yealand Redmayne & Carnforth), then after 1.2km turn left (signed Beetham & Milnthorpe). Storth Waypoint 4
After approx 3km, just before you reach the A6, turn left after Hale End up an unmarked byway which becomes a surfaced lane. Turn left up the hill at the T junction Storth Waypoint 5
Drop down to the T junction and turn right to retrace an earlier section of the route. This time turn 1st right (to Slackhead & Beetham) and eventually drop down to Beetham village. Storth Waypoint 6
Just before you reach the A6 turn left to Heron Corn Mill, then left again at the end onto a narrow bridleway. Storth Waypoint 7
Turn right at the road, which becomes unmade lane giving superb views of the Kent Estuary. Storth Waypoint 8
At the bottom you will meet the quarry road. Turn left to find your vehicle.
