EV1-W1 Waypoint 1 Eden Valley Loop 1
Ride up the wide, stony/grassy bridleway from Roe Head until you meet the start of the Loop at the Ketley Gate crossroads. Keep straight on along this bridleway until you meet the minor, unfenced road from Helton EV1-W2 Waypoint 2 Eden Valley Loop 1
Cross straight over and proceed through a gate onto a green lane which passes the entrance to Widewath Farm and meets the Helton-Bampton road. Just before a second cattle grid, fork right on the unmarked track to Howe (not the bridleway to Keldhead). Go round the wall to the point marked Ford on the map (GR 489192) EV1-W4 Waypoint 4 Eden Valley Loop 1
Turn left and contour round the hill to a small ruin (once the Lowther House an old shooting lodge) on the broad crest of the main ridge. From the ruin, turn right to reach the same viewpoint at the trig point. In descent, return to the ruin (or, if you arrived at the trig point first, turn sharp left -south - to reach the ruin. Follow this route as it bends to the right again all the way down to the ancient stone circle known as the Cockpit (6km from the summit) EV1-W7 Waypoint 7 Eden Valley Loop 1
Take care NOT to take the path that leads northwards to Arthur s Pike EV1-W8 Waypoint 8 Eden Valley Loop 1
On reaching the Cockpit (GR 464222) continue north-east on the same route with the stone circle on the right until you reach the main Roe Head to Helton bridleway. Turn left (NW) and keep on downhill to the gate to finish your ride
