Marbury Country Park and Northwich Flashes (6 miles 9.6 km ) Print

This ride is almost all off road with good all weather tracks. Situated in the Northwich Community Woodlands and managed as part of the Mersey Forest, the flashes are ideally suited for a range of activities, including walking, cycling, running and horse riding.

MABx02 Start
Return through the entrance and go back to the road junction on Marbury Lane. At the junction, turn left down the hill on Marbury Road.

MABw01 Waypoint 1
Road
Take the next left toward the marina on Uplands Road, then fork right to follow the canal.
MABw02 Waypoint 2
Bridleway
Turn left again on a track through the gap beside the forestry gate. [There is a bridge on the right.]
MABw03 Waypoint 3
Bridleway
Keep straight on ignoring tracks to your right. This track goes downhill to cross a bridge.

Road
At the T junction with a gate, turn right on the road, Marbury Lane.

Bridleway
Take the track left with a horse stile and continue, bearing right at a junction, to drop over a stream then up the track to the Flashes.
MABw06 Waypoint 6
Bridleway
Turn left here and ride round the outside of the Flashes unril the track ends on the road again.
MABw07 Waypoint 7
Road
Turn right on the road, Marbury Lane until you have crossed the canal with Black Wood on your right.
MABw08 Waypoint 8
Bridleway
Take the second right [not the path in the woods] and follow this right round Marbury Park until you see a double avenue of trees. Turn left here and follow this round until you see the car park on your left.
